Guitar Scale Mastery comes in at a distant third behind Jamorama and Guitar Superstars. This is because is focus is extremely narrow. Instead of being a comprehensive guitar-teaching program, it focuses only on teach guitar scales. It further trims back on the content by only teaches you the basic scales – they have cut out all of the advanced techniques.
Craig Bassett produced this course. He does tell you that this course is not for everyone. However, having such a narrow focus does have its strong points. If you complete the course you should be able to pick up a guitar and play many songs that you hear without the need for music. This is because the course teaches you to not only play the scales but to also recognize them simply by listening.
The course starts out with single string scales and then expands to include two and three string scales. We found that this process can be extremely tedious at times due to the narrow focus. Although you do learn scales in-depth, we do not recommend this course for people wanting a more comprehensive education on how to play the guitar.
As far as entertainment factor and value for the money, we recommend Jamorama and Guitar Superstars over Guitar Scale Mastery.
